Been looking for a grill like for quite a while. The infrared grill works great, even heating and easy to use. If you haven’t tried infrared grilling you should – It Rocks! They say it sears in the juices when grilling. – actually, it really does. I have grill some of the best steak and chicken on the Infrared. With the new Grill2Go ICE – best of all are the two coolers included. I can use one for drinks and one for food. The coolers are easy to take off the grill and into the kitchen for loading. Grill comes with a rugged pull cart that easily moves carries the grill and coolers where I want them. I Like it a LOT….

This review is from the perspective of a single girl; I assembled alone. I was so excited to receive this product because I am a vegetarian and vegetarians do not like our food cooked where meat items have been cooked. My own little grill!

Assembly: It took about 1.5 hours to assemble, but I’ll admit I was watching TV and talking on the phone. I am not at all mechanically inclined but it wasn’t difficult at all. Just two tools are needed, a Phillips screwdriver and a wrench. However when I was finished it seemed like the lid hinges would not allow for complete closure of the lid and when I tried the latch on the front, the little wire that latches the top to the bottom snapped off; I thought it was broken. I just stuck the wire back into the holes but I can see where this is going to be a persistent problem.

Portability: This thing is really heavy and not all that portable. Yes, the two sides don’t fold down but big deal, just pull them out. But the grill itself is so big and clumsy that I would need someone to help me maneuver it down the stairs of my apartment. In any event it wouldn’t fit in my car, I have a two-door and I would have to remove a front seat to fit it into the back seat. It won’t fit in the trunk either, but I have a compact and I imagine it would fit in a bigger car. But that’s okay, because I can use it on my porch. I wasn’t planning on taking it on any trips, but since they say it’s portable, I wanted to comment. I guess picnics with this thing are out of the question, aww.

Useage: I have not been able to use this because I cannot find a 1lb tank of propane! But even when I do, I’m going to have to ask someone to hook it up for me. Although the instructions are clear, the amount of “danger” and “caution” warnings scare me, especially the part about the gas being able to ignite with just plain old air. I will, however, come back and edit this portion of the review when I can locate a tank and have someone hook it up and show me how to use it. I can’t wait to try my Boca burgers on it, but until then, I hope you have found the rest of this review helpful in your purchase!

What a great update to the older Grill2Go Fire and Ice… this one has 2 soft-sided coolers that can be used with hot or cold food and they are SUPER easy to fill-up. Besides, when you’re done grilling, you can throw your drinks in them and carry them with you! The grill is easy to use and it cooks evenly. I must say – it was a HIT on our last camping trip! Hands Down – THE BEST PORTABLE GRILL for tailgating, camping, picnics, beach trips… you name the occasion – this grill is PERFECT for it!

I have been waiting for Char-Broil to produce their follow up to the old Fire and Ice from several years ago. It seems they got it right on this one. The 2 separate cooler bags are easy to take off the cart and fill them up with food and ice, without having to move the whole grill around. The cooking system works as an infrared grill and I have made it even better when I put wood chips in the pan in the center of the grill and soak them in beer for a full flavorful cook out.

I do belive the grill head latch could be beefier, however, this grill has more options and looks “cooler” than the other tailgate and camping grills out on the market now….for less money!

They do need to make the pull handle a wee bit longer and make it latch like the 2 sides, and this would be 100% perfect.

I reccomend this to any racing or tailgate enthusiast.
