I was so eager to acquire this for my IPhone 3GS. What immediate disapointment.

** First issue was the window mount and length for both my cars and a SUV. The length is set and nonadjustable.
** Second it is very hard to fit my IPhone in the unit. You have to force it in as the height is shorter than the IPhone to keep a very very tight fit. This design flaw could damage and weaken your IPhone plug in at the bottom. Which Apple may or may not cover, but is going to possibly lead to wasting your time with a repair situation.
** Third is the rotation of the device swung very freely. For having such a need to squeeze my IPhone, but then lets just rotate like its a out of control Ferris wheel I don't understand.
** Fourth the suction cup feature wasn't so good as sucking. It would fall of my cars windows. You have to screw the suction cup to the window with limited space to fit your hands behind the mount. Not good.
** Fifth - While the Phone is in the unit and charging, if you have the radio on FM or especially AM you get a horrible high pitch whine/interference on the radio. Unplug the unit and it goes away.

Thank you Apple Store for taking this back. I purchased the Kensington Windshield/Vent Car Mount with Sound Amplified Cradle for iPhone for $39.95. What a difference. Yes it doesn't have the powered speakers or built in GPS chip, but it functions and mounts way better than the Tom Tom. I recommend not wasting your time and money with the Tom Tom. Sorry Tom Tom, I love your GPS app, but this is way over priced for something that is flawed.

I'm using this product in Brasil, where I live. I'm very satisfied with the TomTom Kit car. Is very necessary for extension the signal of GPS.
I indicate the use of the product for your iPhone.

I have no idea why this seller has this kit priced at $195 when it is readily available at the Apple store for $119!

The company selling this is ripping people off by hoping that you won't realize that you can buy this direct from Tom Tom or Apple Computer (with free shipping from Apple) for only $119.

Stay away from a company like this.

I had high hopes for the TomTom car kit. It mounts nicely on my Pro-Fit clip on the dashboard in my car. The GPS reception is definitely improved. The speaker is loud and easy to understand.

This unit does have its flaws, one of which made it useless for my own application.

First, the volume selector ends up behind the phone while it is docked, therefore making it nearly impossible to reach.

The reason I returned the unit: There is a mini-usb port on the side of the car kit that is used for power. This port inexplicably DOES NOT pass data, so if you have a USB port in your car and would like to use the steering wheel controls to control tracks, etc., this is not possible.

And yes, it is ridiculously expensive given its purpose, but I would have gladly kept it had it been able to interface with the USB port in my car. Sadly, this has been my experience with all TomTom products... they are good on the surface until that one glaring omission or "feature" manifests itself.
